Tretorn Tent Sale

Tretorn -- one of our favorite Swedish sportswear brands (apart from Fjällräven, or course) is hosting a "Tent Sale" this weekend, featuring at least 50% off F/W clothing, sneakers, and their famous all-weather Skerry and Strala Sommar boots. Sale begins at 10 a.m., Saturday morning. Can't miss.

Hands On With +J S/S

Dropped by Uniqlo this afternoon to check out +J Spring/Summer. Little line to get into the collection's private space within the store, but nothing insane. What's insane is the quality of these clothes. Just look at the stitching on the below cotton jacket ($100), and around the buttonholes in particular. The real gem, however, is +J's cotton Mountain Parka in two colorways ($130) -- Unfortunately a clerk asked us to stop taking pics before we could capture the parka in all its glory. Seriously, though, go get yourself some +J this weekend. Just watch it with the synthetics -- The cotton gear looks much better and lasts longer, for sure.
Price list:

• Outerwear: $50 - $150
• Shirts: $40
• Pants: $40-60
• "Cut and sewn": $10-$50
• Knitwear: $30-$130

The GQ Eye -- which favors the +J shirts -- also notes that Uniqlo is running a "big promotion" on ribbed cotton dress socks through the weekend: Six for $10. Nice.

At Earnest Sewn Sample Sale

Apart from the light-cotton Field shirts for $30 (pictured), it's all about the denim at Earnest Sewn's sample sale. Regular pairs are $60 each; 2 for $50 each. Damaged and sample jeans, meanwhile, are $30 a pair. These sales always offer a nice selection of boot, "regular," and straight leg cuts in various hues of blue -- all of which you can inspect in greater detail here. Just be prepared to wade through large brown boxes, and share a rather confined "communal" changing area with fellow shoppers. The sale goes through Sunday, 3/7.

Beggar Invitational

Lands' End Canvas Givaway

Late last year, Lands' End debuted its Canvas collection and the promise of better fits, cleaner designs, and superior fabrics -- all at ridiculously affordable prices. Take the Heritage Oxford they just sent over, which retails for $34.50. Along with the (intentionally) minimalist packaging, the first thing you notice about this shirt is its solid build. Then come the details, like its tailored fit, shorter tails, gussets (those triangular pieces of cloth sewn in where the front and back tails meet), and gauntlet buttons (the ones found halfway up the forearm to keep the cuff buttons company). Save for mother-of-pearl buttons, Lands' End went all out.

While we put ours through the ringer, Lands' End has graciously offered to send one reader a Heritage Oxford of their own. The shirt goes to the guy who comes up with the best slogan for the new Choosy Beggar -- set to launch next month. Send your brilliance to contact@thechoosybeggar.com, and, remember, that brevity is the soul of wit.
