We all need something to look forward to. Thursday morning (unofficially, Wednesday night) through Sunday, get to the Steven Alan sample sale for $69 button-downs, $60-something sweaters, $70-something jeans, and a whole bunch of other goodies.
**Update #2: It's 6;30, Wednesday night, and the doors are open.**
Update: For what it's worth, a commenter claiming to be a Steven Alan employee insists, "No Wednesday opening..."
Note: In light of several reader inquiries, we thought it wise to clarify the whole "unofficial Wednesday" business. Many (most?) sample sales get started a day/night early for employees, "friends and family," and press. For the average Joe, getting in is typically hit-or-miss, but better than average at these Steven Alan events. Just act like you know somebody, and shoot for 8:00ish.

what time Wed night?
ReplyDeleteNot clear exactly what time or how strict they're going to be about door policy. We'd say shoot for 8:00ish.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that all of us at Acrimony really love your blog!
ReplyDeleteCheck out our store and our blog!
xxLinda
i work at the store, no wednesday opening, but be there thursday bright and early!
ReplyDeleteI thought Wednesday was for friends & family?
ReplyDeleteThere is a Wednesday opening :)
ReplyDeleteshhhhhh
Just back from sale tons of shirting from $58-68
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether the "friends & family" pillaged the showroom last night, but that's the first time in years I left empty handed from a Steven Alan sample sale.
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of reverse seams, but many were from last season. Loud plaid shirts, and very few hidden-button/single needles. Though a lot more styles in large.
The lower level was even more abysmal save for a couple "property of..." leather tote bags ($99), and some Gilded Age henleys.
There was a better selection of outerwear (Short Mac - $200, Robert Jacket - $65) and three button blazers ($150) but overall, not a great sale. Unless you want to get your fall shopping done early, there's nothing to go out of your way for.
Thanks to the beautiful checkout girl with the open blouse and no bra for making this a sample sale to remember. I imagine she picked up a few dozen phone numbers today.
ReplyDeleteSteven Alan himself rang up my shirt purchase :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Guy!
His real name is Steven Greenberg
ReplyDeletei went to the friends and family...picked up 4 single needle shirts...1 of which ill most likely sell on ebay.
ReplyDeletei liked the prices on the cooper suits but hate those outer-pockets on the jacket. i may stop in sunday and see if they cut the prices.
kinda glad i went last night from the poster above. sorry bro.
