ReplyDeletesite is back up
ReplyDeleteplenty of shirts for $119-129.00
I am sure they will be lower at next week's sample sale :)
can someone please explain to me what is so great about steven alan shirts? just wondering why they are so popular.
ReplyDeleteFit, fit, fit! ... which we'd describe as perfectly modern. (We credit Alan with at least helping to spearhead the demise of the dreaded billowing shirt!) The supple fabrics, smart patterns, and understated tones ain't half bad, either. Also -- of HUGE importance to men -- are the shirts' low maintenance(!), because most don't need to be ironed, and can be worn numerous times before requiring a little wash & dry. Sure, $160 for a knock-around shirt might strike some as unreasonable, but those prices drop as low as $69 at least 4 times a year when you factor in two mega sample sales, and two Barneys Warehouse sales.
ReplyDeletewell said. i also like the small-ish collars which match the dimensions of the slimmer shirt.
ReplyDeleteI once worked for steven alan's production company. Actually, I picked fabrics for them, then they chose. To tell you the truth, they use very cheap fabric, all made in China or Taiwan, never use Japanese or even Korean Fabric. Everyone working in the company thought that the price of his shirts is ridiculous. Although I have several Stever Alan's shirts, I got them for only $15-20.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, that's some very interesting insider information, Anon. I have to ask, then, what shirts you recommend?
ReplyDeleteSecond the request that Anon give his recommendations, I have a couple of Alan shirts that I didn't feel matched the hype and am looking around for another designer.
ReplyDeleteActually, Beggar guys, why don't you pose it as a question in a post? I know you guys haven't done that before as the sole point of the post and it'd be neat to get the opinions of all the readers here on something that we would all consider a staple in our wardrobes
ReplyDeleteChoosy Beggar--You forgot sales on Gilt Groupe, instore sales (apart from the sample sale), and the outlet on the West Side! Somehow you should be able to get a discount on these shirts...
ReplyDeleteHey, any word on the Steven Alan Sample Sale tomorrow? I've been hearing reports that it starts at 8:30AM but can anyone confirm?
ReplyDeleteGood idea, Anon, We'll ask readers about their favorites shirts this week.
ReplyDeleteJames, The sale is scheduled to begin until Thursday, but definitely let us know if you hear / see different...
