+J S/S Drops Thursday

If you only wait in one line this month, make it the line that's sure to be waiting outside of Uniqlo Thursday morning, 1/14, for the debut of +J's spring collection. Yes, diffusion lines are typically recipes for disappointment, but critics have unanimously credited Jil Sander's +J with raising the bar for "fast fashion." Doors open at ***8:00am***

Here's the price list:

• Outerwear: $50 - $150
• Shirts: $40
• Pants: $40-60
• "Cut and sewn": $10-$50
• Knitwear: $30-$130

  1. Hey TCB, I started reading your blog recently - great resource! I even put a link to your blog on my own.

A slight correction, if I may - the SoHo store should be opening at 8AM 1/14 through 1/16,and 9AM on 1/17. Special launch hours, I hear.

  2. Thanks for noting and for the kind words, Kyph! Hope you scored some worthwhile +J!

  3. My spending power has dwindled significantly since Black Friday (the Rag & Bone sample sale did a number on my wallet). I have pretty much barred myself from spending any money on clothes for this month and possibly longer.

That said, I did get what I believe to be the last +J grey Chesterfield (size L) in New York. No complaints about that coat so far. The cut is more flattering than I originally thought when I tried it on in the store - always a plus.

  4. Thinking of checking out today, would love one of their suits. Anyone know if items are still available today?

  5. There's no great need to wait in line for this sale. Unlike H&M collabs, Uniqlo stocks enough merchandise to last a month or so. It's not going to run out in a few days.

I would wait in line to pay for a Jill Sanders coat at a dept store or Barneys Warehouse if it were marked down to $200 from $2,000 but I'm not standing in line to pay $200 for a jacket that's worth $200.

I do like the +J collection but will head there next week when there is no line.

  6. Definitely let us know how that works out, Anon. Hope you find exactly what you're looking for, but F/W '09 did disappear pretty quickly, and -- as far as we know -- was only restocked once.
