Opportunity Knocks

It's no secret that the consignment business is booming, which has led to the influx of some really nice pieces onto eBay. Ask Andy "senior member" and eBay "power seller" Mack11211 just unloaded some exceptional specimens online, including this brown flannel Paul Stuart jacket, which retails for $1,200. Starting bid: $50.

Worried about fit? Completely justified. The solution? Pop in to Paul Stuart and try on a few jackets for size - Paul Stuart flagship - 10 E 45th St between 5th & Madison - 212-682-0320 - Map

Can You Dig It?!

We have to take a moment -- in the eye of the storm that is holiday shopping season -- to give it up to the Barneys of vintage clothing, Cheap Jack's! (The Bergdorf's of vintage, if you're wondering, is definitely What Comes Around Goes Around.) But, Jack's, where it's buy-one-get-one-free right now, offers a massive and extremely well ordered array of vintagey F/W staples.
We're particularly drawn to the corduroy jackets -
Also, if plaid's your game -- and it's everyone's this season -- Jack's got you covered -

Just Take The C To Lafayette!

There's no denying that New Yorkers are perpetually sitting on a treasure trove of priceless sites, scenes, characters, arts, and artifacts. That so many of these gems can be so concentrated geographically is beyond miraculous. Every Sunday, The Brooklyn Flea Market endeavors to concentrate that trove even further by hosting some 150 vendors of vintage furniture, clothing, collectibles and antiques, as well as new jewelry, art and crafts by local artisans.

Michael of A Continuous Lean points the way to the "Mad Men" shop (pictured above) full of 60s vintage goods.

Need To Know

Business at consignment shops is booming, according to a story in this week's Journal. And in New York, there are two resale shops you NEED to know about: Gentlemen's Resale, which we profiled in September; and INA, which consists of several locales, including a Men's Store on Mott St (pictured), and a Men's+Women's Store on Bleecker.

Hands down, INA has the best consignment merch in the city, given that much of it comes directly from film/fashion shoots. Name a designer -- Dries Van Noten, Dsquared, Dior -- and these guys carry it at no less than 50% off retail. Twice a year, they take an additional 70% off existing mark-downs -- the next such sale expected to go down in January. But, whenever you go, do so with a list *and your measurements* to prevent becoming overwhelmed by the expansive and tightly crammed selection.
