Times and Muji Sitting In A Tree...

Two notes on The Moment's latest High/Low endorsement -- Muji shirts for $50:

1 - For its smart simplicity, we're self-professed fans of the Japanese lifestyle brand.
2 - Yet, given that the New York Times blog has featured Muji before, and that Muji's NYC HQ resides on the ground floor of the Times' NYC HQ, we're wondering if a lick of laziness didn't factor into the choice.

  1. i'm a big fan of muji as well, but i should note that that their shirts do tend to shrink pretty dramatically in the wash. i bought one of their unstructured dress shirt last fall, which was a close but not unreasonable fit at the time. after a few washings, i can still wear it, but it gapes at every button. so buy a size up from what you would usually pick...

  6. That's about as complicated an endeavor as we can imagine. And you've had success with it in the past? How's his English? You must have to have a pretty good idea of what you're looking for...

  7. I have had great luck in the past, though the management at Borrelli in the US (particularly the store) hate the policy and will often be explicitly rude about it as they feel it takes money out of their pockets. Mr. Francisorelli has incredible stock and I have found great pieces at 85+% off retail with a nominal shipping fee if your willing to do surface shipments. Unfortunately people will need to contact him directly and speak italian or find someone who does as he speaks no english. His wife Leonora speaks spanish as well if that helps.
