Uniqlo's +J Drops Thursday

Jil Sander's Uniqlo line +J hits Soho tomorrow, Thursday, 10/1 . Diffusion lines are generally a recipe for disappointment, but this isn't your typical diffusion line. The critics have been raving. Now it's time to judge for yourself.

Lunchtime Report From The Field: "Line was getting insane when I left half hour ago. Got some sick jeans, shirt, and a jacket. Skipped the changing rooms, trying everything on at work now! No way they'll sell out today. Sales guy says they'll restock."

Here's the price list:

• Outerwear: $80-$150
• Shirts: $40
• Pants: $50
• Cut and sewn: $20-$40
• Cashmere: $130-$150

  1. Is this the type of thing where you have to be there 9 AM Day 1 to get anything or are these going to be regular items I can pick-up in a week or two?

  2. The issue likely won't be available stock, but getting access to it. We're talking about huge lines. Why? 1) There's only one Uniqlo store in NYC 2) It's notorious for long lines on regular days 3) Uniqlo doesn't do etail! 4) There's huge buzz around +j.

We're sure they'll restock, at which point you'll have much better luck. Also, Jil Sander herself now works for Uniqlo as a "design consultant," so her designs aren't going anywhere.

  3. Also all customers are limited to 1 piece for each design.

  5. they don't have a web presence, but they will accept phone orders provided you can get them to answer the phones which can be tricky.

  7. Everyone was surprisingly cordial. No frantic rummaging and stare-downs like at the Barney's warehouse sale. Men's stuff looked well picked over in colors other than black when I was there.

  8. As I wrote on Racked, this was worth the effort and more. Arrived crack o dawn, picked up 5 pieces: grey chesterfield, grey flannel and charcoal grey sportcoats, grey flannel and navy blue wool pants. Five bills plus tax. IMMACULATE cut, great fit.
