A tipster just brought our attention to a Paul Smith sample sale going down right this minute!!!
Officially, the sale was slated to run tomorrow -- Friday, 11/13 -- from 12pm-6pm, and feature dress shoes for $80, suits for $300, etc. A coy clerk at Paul Smith's downtown locale, where the sale was supposed to take place, confirmed that it was open at 4pm on Thursday, but that she didn't know much about it.
Update 1: Word is this sale's amazing for moderately-sized individuals, but not easy to get into.
Update 2: Sale's on the Third Floor, and features a "large selection for men, especially jackets!"
***Update 3: Like one commenter says, Just "go and walk right in as if you work above the Paul Smith showroom. The minute you show hesitation, they're not letting you in."***

Just went by Paul smith. Not only was i turned away-the woman checking names claimed the sale is not open to the public at all, including tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteSale is invite only all three days. They are checking the list HARD. Sale is actually not open to the public at all. All suits are 40 Regular (actual fits at that size vary significantly). All shoes are either 8 or 9 UK. BIG selection of dress and casual shirts and accessories. I, alas have no tips to share as to how to get past the list beyond frankly...pure insolence.

ReplyDeleteIf you shop at the store somewhat frequently, you may be able to get your salesperson to escort you in. Happened to me last night, but once i arrived it was pretty picked over. Very few 15.5 shirts left. 3 or 4 styles of mainline summer jacket were in abundance though and it was worth going just for those.

ReplyDeleteSuccess but everything is picked over. Not much there unless you are 16+ / M / L in shirts. Not much left of shoes either. And suits at 40/50 but not much selection. Women's 42s mainly.
ReplyDeleteJust walking in doesnt work. Found a way by striking a conversation with someone who looked liked they worked there and just walked right in with them as I conversed with them. Not much selection left unless you are interested stuff from last year's sale.

ReplyDeleteIt goes til 8pm tonight (person there was checking list when I went at 4:30). Tomorrow 11 - 4 (not sure about list situation.)
