Steven Alan Sample Sale

Before the recent transformations of J. Crew, Lands' End and L.L. Bean; before every shirt was slimmed- and trimmed-down to create today's modern fit; before Prep jumped off and Classic came back... there was Steven Alan. Wednesday night through Sunday, 11/18-11/22, get to Alan's sample sale for $69 plaids, $60ish waffle sweaters, $70ish denim, and tons of other quality gear. To be clear, Wednesday night is a "sale preview" for press and such, but anyone worth their salt should breeze by what is always lax* security. HERE's what a Steven Alan sample sale looks like.

*Clarification: A Steven Alan rep takes issue with our characterization of the pre-sale security as "lax." In other words, steer clear or prepare to have your heads bashed in Sopranos-style by a clipboard-wielding waif.

Steven Alan showroom - 87 Franklin St between Broadway & Church - Thurs, Fri (HOURS SUBJECT TO CHANGE) 8:30am-8pm, Sat 12pm-7pm, Sun 12pm-5pm - Map

  9. Racked just reported the preview sale kicked off at 4pm, there's a 20-person line, and THERE'S NO ONE OUT FRONT TAKING NAMES.

  10. i went at 7pm on wed and it was a bust mostly...at least for my XS ass. the shirts selection was pretty crap. older styles, lots of reverse seam which i dont care for.

other steven alan stuff included the flannel vests for $175 or so...i like them but id have to get it for less to entice me. i picked up a pair of khakis for $25 since they usually fit well. they have lots of sweaters and knits but that usually isnt SA's strongsuit.

downstairs, generic surplus shoes for $25...i bought 2 pairs...probably the best score of the sale. everything else was wack...relwen sucks, loomstate...all meh.

for some reason, i think the spring sample sale is much better.

  11. I just got back from this sale 3pm Thurs and it seems pretty picked clean - there is not such a good selection of (cute) shirts - there are a bunch of leftover patterns from the last sale - and there are still a whole lot of the red and blue striped cardigans that have been around for the prior two sales (but not marked down any further) - not bad selection for girls though ...
