Fall shipments are starting to arrive, and stores need to make room. Through Sunday, Bloomies is taking an additional 50% off "almost all" permanently reduced S/S '09, which comes out to 60-80% off retail. And we've said it before, but Bloomies has recently done more than any other department store to bring smart labels on board, and make male shoppers feel like first class citizens. ReplyDeleteJust called Bloomingdales on Lex and talked to a clerk from the men's department. He checked the racks and didn't see any EG. Mostly converse and dress shirts from last season, whatever was left over from the first summer sale. I'll try and confirm if I get a chance to go tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteI was at Bloomies in Soho last night and plenty of Engineered Garments was on sale (especially if you want a paisley jacket). The Lexington store doesn't carry EG--only the Woolrich line by the designer (I would never call Bloomies looking for help--their sales people don't know anything). Also in Soho a good deal of Trovata, but in the front room, not the 'designer' section.
ReplyDeleteChoosy--Why are you praising Bloomies? No Rag and Bone, no Band of Outsiders, and the men's space at Lexington (now divided into several equally ungainly areas)is probably the worst designed retail space in the city.
Rag and Bone, BOO are not really small label anymore, but Relwen and EG still is, I think Begger is supporting Bloomie for still carrying small and hard to find labels.
ReplyDeleteI went by Lex today, and, as expected, the info above from a salesperson is incorrect (never ever expect help from Bloomingdale's staff. The staff at Century 21 have a better idea what is going on in there). There is plenty of stuff on sale, although sizes--especially small and medium--are very limited. Designer stuff is now 70% off, sportswear is about 50%. Scattered around the perimeter of the two men's floors. Of course, there is loads of crapola from Elie Tahari, Polo Ralph Lauren, etc with a handful of good items interspersed.
