Mursed

The Daily News surveys the current landmine-strewn field of "murses" -- or men's purses. Plain and simple, bags are responsible for ruining more outwork appearances than crack. Guys just have no experience in this area, so end up either trying too hard or not at all. Simple rules for success include keeping it simple, classic, understated, and functional. And, for fuck sake, if the bag falls just under your armpit, and/or is longer than it is wide, it's going to look like a purse! The above choice we like. (Also, 5, 9, and 10 are okay.) The others, not so much. [NYDailyNews.com via Kempt]

  1. i have a murse from Rafe that I bought 3 years ago at a discount store (i forget which one). it is the perfect size (relatively small, but will stretch to hold a couple hundred pages of documents or an extra shirt if needed). unfortunately, it appears that Rafe no longer makes bags for men, and I haven't been able to find anything like it in a reasonable price range.

(btw, by your "length greater than width" standard, it looks like a purse. i have no problem with that.)

  2. Not exactly a hard, fast rule, Anon. Perhaps we can point you in the right direction if you send us a pic of your old bag.

  3. A purse is a purse, just like a scarf in August is foolish!
