Neither By Snow, Nor Rain, Nor Heat...

The first bona fide snow fall of the year isn't keeping the crowds from the Opening Ceremony sample sale, so expect a little elbow to elbow action. No big surprises. Mostly Opening Ceremony. No Acne in sight. Anything Ervell is still at least $250. And remember, *Cash Only.*

*Update: To each is own, but many readers are reporting leaving empty handed.*
Most of the outerwear is OC for about $150
We did, however, spot this nice YMC toggle for only $100
Plenty of OC knits for $80-$120
Long rack of TopMan, with a few finds, including this shawl collar for $40
Rachel Comey suede lace-ups for $75
OC ducky loafers for $120
A-String winter-ready lace-ups for $120

Opening Ceremony sample sale - 10 Greene St between Canal & Grand - Basement - 212-219-2688 - Through Sunday - Fri-Sat 11am-8pm, Sunday 12pm-7pm - Cash only - Map

  2. Horrible Sale. Went at 11 am, was totally let down.

I'll tell you something though. Please head over to that News sale at 495 Broadway.

They have the entire Woolrich Woolen Mills fall/winter line at 50% off.

Also ALL band of outsiders shirts are 75 bucks! And they have like 10 models in all sizes.

And if your still not impressed, all common projects shoes are 100 bucks. They have like 10 styles. Desert boots included.

  4. I would add that those prices/brands are pretty standard for The News sale, which seems to happen every ~3 months or so. Usually lots of $20-$30 Rogues Gallery polos and tees as well.

Agree that OC was lame and way too expensive. Prices seemed "negotiable" (e.g. they told me the A-String you showed was $70, while Rachel Comey was alternately $80, $195, or $120 based on whom I asked, one of the whoms being the co-owner/founder!). Hopefully that means on Sunday it'll be a total bargain/Canal St.-haggling style blowout?

Would strongly recommend the Libertine sale just 6 blocks away. $60 cashmere sweaters, $50 dress shirts, $25 tees, etc. Granted their whole schtick is they rework used clothing so maybe those prices are actually pretty exorbitant....?

  5. Hey....thanks for the tip RE: The News sale - it ended up being a better experience (Not crowded, friendly staff, spacious, big fitting room with 2 big mirrors)....and the $10 Cheap Monkey jeans didn't hurt either :) Walked out with a pair of Common Projects leather boots for $100!! A bargain!!! The Woolrich prices were a little up there and I'm hoping it will go down tomorrow.... I will be back there again for sure!!!

RE: Opening Ceremony sale: EEEEK!!! Too crowded!!! cramped space....no formal fitting rooms.. there is no sense and order to the place. It's hard to appreciate the garments when you are in a dank basement with everything so clutterd...and the prices were a bit too much for a Cash Only sale. I was so turned off that I ended up not buying anything.

Libertine: Went there yesterday but didn't really see a lot of options for guys.... and plus I was not so keen on their sense of style.....

    Love the blog!!!
