Thanks CB. It looks like it might be an interesting sale, but i was wondering what's up with the fake rolex banner ads? I know money is money, but as a purveyor of style and of some of the best sample sale info around couldn't we go with something slightly more dignified?
ReplyDeleteHey, I only read this site but to defend the editor, they have little control over what ads are served. Most small to mid-sized sites on the internet monetize through ad networks who make the decisions on what ads to serve. If you don't like the ads that are served the best thing you can do is voice your displeasure to the ad networks and insist that they grant small to mid-sized publishers more control over what ads that are served (without endangering their revenue streams).
ReplyDeleteYes, but while the site owner may not have much control over what ads are displayed, the site owner may be liable for trademark infringement for facilitating infringement.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the interest, guys, We do have some control over the Google ads that run on the site, but it's far from a perfect science. We regularly flag ads that we feel generally cheapen the site experience, but they still pop up (often with slightly different url's) later on. We're planning a big relaunch in April, at which point we plan to have far more control over the ads that you'll you.
